Good, or Don't Be

What started out as a semi-autobiographical novella has since turned into just a completely fictional novel.  I tried a couple different ways to tackle the kinds of issues that I had growing up, but the closer the story got to my real life, the harder it got to write.  So instead of using anything personal, I just started from scratch and used a main character who draws from me and other sources, but is completely outside of myself.

Thanks to this, I've been able to get pretty close to finishing a first draft of the story.  Still working on it slowly, I've only been able to get a few chapters done since I started working at the start of the year.  Unfortunately for my readers, I'm not going to post anything until each chapter has been given a rewrite.  There are a lot of consistency issues and the characters need more work, but that's what happens when you just write up a whole story without going back to fix anything, and not having a game plan when jumping into it.

So, it is being worked on, just not terribly quickly.  I started picking up a lot of hobbies I've neglected this year, so those kind of shoved writing to the side.  I've made a commitment to at least be writing the second draft by the end of the year.  Look forward to it.
